Dating in D.C. makes top ten

By Fahima Haque

Along with retail shopping, expensive homes and being dirty, D.C. finally makes the cut for a much more coveted list: number 10 best city to find a date in 2012.

Atlanta gets the number one slot, with Gainsville, FL and Lincoln, NE rounding out the top three. D.C. is the only Northeastern city on the list.

The Daily Beast included factors like the number of singles, ratio of women to men, dating costs, the popularity of dating Web sites and the mental and emotional health of the cities respective residents.

While D.C.’s once pronounced African-American majority now hovers at about 50 percent, both the District and Atlanta are still called “Chocolate Cities” because of high numbers of African-American residents. That may increase the odds for African-Americans who are looking for a date within their race.
